If you have chronic pain from fibroids, endometriosis, or uterine polyps, you may be in need of a hysterectomy. A robotic hysterectomy can resolve these issues and help you feel like the best version of yourself. Dr. Evans at Sugar Land Medical Spa in Houston performs robotic hysterectomies as an alternative to abdominal hysterectomies.

What Is a Robotic Hysterectomy?

A robotic hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes all or part of the uterus. The procedure can treat cancer, endometriosis, chronic pain, bleeding, or fibroids.

A robotic hysterectomy is performed using the da Vinci® robotic surgical system. Robotic hysterectomies are an alternative to traditional abdominal hysterectomies, which can result in significant scarring along the lower abdomen.

A hysterectomy with the da Vinci robotic surgical system also lowers the amount of blood loss during the procedure.

Recovery & Aftercare

Robotic hysterectomies result in shorter recovery times than traditional abdominal hysterectomies.

When performed with the da Vinci method, the procedure typically requires smaller incisions and is less likely to result in scarring. There may be tiny sutures in place, which can be removed about one week after surgery.

You will need to keep your incisions clean and sterilized for about four weeks after treatment. You should also avoid strenuous activity like physical exercise or contact sports during this time.
